Hundred Islands

Hundred Islands National Park in the province of Pangasinan is a protected area of 123 islands.

So its name is much closer to the truth than Thousand Islands in Indonesia, which has only 110 islands.

It is a wild life protected sea area near to the coast of the city of Alaminos in the Lingayen gulf.

Only three of them have been developed for tourism: Governor Island, Quezon Island, and Children's Island. The distance from Manila is ca. 240 km.

Annual Report 2015

All registered aliens and ACR I-Card holders, except Temporary Visitor’s Visa holders or Tourist Visa holders, should report themselves each year in the first three months of the year.

Reporting must be done at a Bureau of Immigration (BI) authorized office, or what they call field offices. Make sure you are decently dressed, e.g. long pants or dress, shoes (no flip flop's) and shoulders covered. when you go there.

A list of offices and the services they deliver can be found here

The fee is 310 pesos. If late there is a penalty fee.

I did my reporting already in January 2015 and used the old paper form application. The form is available in the office. The whole procedure took me 30 minutes. Don't forget to bring your ACR, passport and payment slip of last year's reporting.

BI has developed an online reporting application website, see here. As far as I know it is not yet a requirement to do the registration online, see my experience above. But, if you do then print a copy of the application form, including the CONFIRMATION NUMBER, and bring it also with you when you go to the BI office.

Our wedding anniversary in Bali Hai

This year I rented a small cottage house in a beach resort to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary early February. It was Bali Hai beach resort in San Fernando, La Union.

My plan was to go to Thunderbird resort, also in San Fernando, but it was fully booked that weekend, Anyway we went there to look around and took some photo's and I will show them to you in another post.

Navigation

Image result for bloggingThe first two weeks of February, 2015, were used to restructure the navigation options of this site and to review the post labels that were used.

And we looked at the site search option, which was very promising, so we added this as well.

We felt that the labels used were not always very well chosen, sometimes ambiguous and a bit messy. So it had to be cleaned up.

Another aspect we looked at was the different views readers of our blog might have. So we added additional info to the post labels (basically an identifier as the first character(s), as to create the possibility to easily make different post views.

Ontmoetingen met mijn vader's verleden (Deel 8)

juli 2005

Grandfather

My grandson
Last week my son and his wife got their first baby. Of course they are very happy and proud on their son. Mother, son and father are doing very well. Congratulations to all of you.

So it means I am now for the first time grandfather, or opa in Dutch or lolo in Tagalog (Filipino) and I am happy too of course.
.
In one of my first posts I called myself lolo already as it was the anonymous blog author name I used that time. This was back in 2009, see here.

Learning how to bath his baby
It's not easy if you are living far away, they in the Netherlands and we in the Philippines and you cannot do a quick visit. So we need to make plans to go there later this year to see my first grandson.

And it's not the first time my son is popping up in this blog. First time was in one of the 2009 posts when I lived in Thailand, see here.

The second time he was playing a role in my blog was during my visit to the Netherlands, when he offered me with my daughter a site seeing tour in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, see here and here.

The last time he appeared in my blog was after his visit to our place in November-December 2014, see here.
