“I'd rather regret the things that I have done than the things that I have not.”

We had a difficult time since early June, as Europe was still an option for my wife to settle, but not for me. So after many and long discussions, sometimes even quarelling and shouting, I agreed to return to Europe earlier then planned, as staying longer in the Philippines was not in my interest anymore.

As a result I also decided to close my blog (a Dutchman staying in the Philippines), because the title would not cover anymore our new life, my dream and the place of living. So rather than changing the title like "a Dutchman living abroad", I decided to close my blog until the future was clear and bright again. Later on I also can open up again and add new story's and developments.

We had a return ticket to Amsterdam for end of June to be able to join the cermony and party for my daughter's PhD promotion and to prepare the transport of our household from a storage box in Nijmegen to the Philippines.

The current plan is to visit properties for sale in SW France (Spain was already cancelled as an option) and to inform our selves about the way of living and tax rules in France. I will report about it later in this blog.

So it will be a very stressing time the coming weeks and maybe months, until we have made a final decision on where to settle and perhaps on which house to buy.
